I was wondering about the Guam Kingfisher. I am finding different colored birds. How many varieties are there? I am interested in the brightly multi-colored yellow one but all I'm finding is the copper/green one.

I had a dream about this bird even though I didn't know there was such a bird. I only knew of the blue-gray northern with a black band around it's neck. In my dream I knew it was a kingfisher by it's shape but it was so beautifully colored that I got up in the middle of the night and googled it. That's when I found the Guam kingfisher. It looked just like in my dream. Now I can't seem to find it. Did I dream I got up and googled it?

I am trying to find the correct spelling for a rare bird in South America. I first heard the name mentioned on NPR Radio about six months ago. Spelled phonetically, it sounds like "wieropahoo." Among indigenous peoples it is said that anyone hearing the song of this exotic bird will have everlasting happiness. Sounds quaint but intriguing, doesn't it? I'm using this bird in a scene for a mystery novel (my third) being written this year. Thanks for your help.
