Bill Tillman, I would strongly suggest taking the bird to a vet as cat bites and scratches often become infected.

I have found a baby bird that me cat was attacking. The bird is alive and besides a minor bite wound appears ok. I has some of its down still left and some feathers but it cannot fly. I dont' see any nest in the area where it could have come from and if I just put back outside either my cat or one of the feral cats around will have it for lunch.

I cannot identify whar it is. Its plumage anf down are black and gray anf it has yellow or much lighter color on its chest and a sort of collar around its neck of lighter down. I have a photo of it so if someone could at least help us identify it. Its in a box in my house. It's drinking some water that I mixed a little corn syrup with but it won't eat the ground corn or the mushed cat food we've tried to feed it. Can someone please offer advice.
