The San Diego Bird Festival
The 12th San Diego Bird Festival, sponsored by the San Diego Audubon Society, is set to take place from 6 February through to 11 February 2008. The venue for this popular birding festival is the superb Marina Village Conference Center in Mission Bay, San Diego, California.
Winter Wings Festival, Oregon
The 2008 Winter Wings Festival, sponsored by the Klamath Basin Audubon Society and the Klamath Wingwatchers, is set to take place from 15 to 17 February 2008 at Klamath Falls, Oregon. The purpose of the Winter Wings Festival is to increase awareness of wildlife resources in the community with the focus on birds and bird-watching.
The NPRPF Parrot Festival
The NPRPF Parrot Festival is hosted by the National Parrot Rescue & Preservation Foundation, or NPRPF. Their selfless efforts to rehabilitate rescued parrots and exotic birds has led to many unwanted birds being placed in loving homes and being able to spend the rest of their days surrounded by love, care and much needed attention. The National Parrot Rescue & Preservation Foundation also educates trainers and owners in the care of parrots and how to re-establish trust and eliminate unwanted behavior that stems from emotional instability and neglect.

Clicker training is a positive reinforcement training method that makes use of rewards for desired behavior rather than dominance and punishment for unacceptable behavior. The clicker training method can be used to train almost any kind of animal, and bird enthusiasts are having a great deal of success in using this method for the training of birds.
The Pleasure of Pet Duck Ownership
When seeing a cute little duckling, many an animal-lover is tempted to pick it up, cuddle it and take it home. This urge can become almost impossible to resist if the animal-lover is accompanied by children. Ducks make wonderful pets, but before making a commitment to care for a pet duck that could be around for up to twelve years, it is wise to give the matter careful thought, weighing up (and even writing down if necessary) the pros and cons of adding this fluffy little bird to the household.
