I have seen a soft grey colored bird about the size of a robin. It has a black band around it's eyes with a white bar accent and small orange and yellow bars on its tail. I was wondering what kind of bird it is.

I have a bird that comes to my feeder. He is possibly a cardinal but has no crest on his head or what ever the very top of the head that is a chararistic of male cardinals. The bird that he seems to be with is a female but we does not really look like a male cardinal. I told my husband that I think he is a deformed bird. Is this possible.
